Materials You Will Need (The Shopping List)
To create this winning costume, you will need a few basic craft items:

  1.  Medium Cardboard Box: (Approximately 40 cm wide x 60 cm high, or sized to fit your child)
  • Color Papers/Sheets: Yellow, Black, White, and Red/Orange chart paper
  • Adhesives: Strong Packing Tape and Hot Glue Gun (or a reliable liquid glue)

  • Tools: Scissors, Box Cutter, and Ruler
  • Shoulder Straps: Black ribbon or strong fabric tape (for the shoulder straps)
  • Step-by-Step Instructions (The Written Guide)
  • Follow these written steps along with the video to ensure every detail is perfect.
Step 1: Shape and Structure the Box
Keep the box height around 60 cm and width 40 cm (adjusting for the child's size).
To create the taxi's bonnet shape, cut a slight 10 cm curved cut on the top front edge of the box, just like we showed in the video.
Reinforce all the inner and outer joints of the cardboard box using strong packing tape to ensure durability.
Step 2: Cover and Color the Taxi
Carefully cover the entire cardboard structure with Bright Yellow Chart Paper. Make sure the paper is smooth and neatly secured at the edges.
Use Black paper to cover the top front part (where the sign goes) and the bumper areas.

Step 3: Detailing (Tyres, Windows, & Lights)
Tyres: Cut out four circular tyre shapes using black paper, and use white paper for the hubcaps. Glue them firmly onto the sides.
Windows and Lights: Cut out the windshield and side windows using black paper. Use white or light yellow paper for the headlights and red/orange for the tail lights.
Don't forget the signature taxi features: the 'TAXI' sign on top and the black checkerboard design on the doors!

Step 4: Attach the Straps (The Wearable Part)
Measure and attach the black ribbon or strap to the inside of the box structure using a hot glue gun or strong tape.
Ensure the straps are securely fastened and sit comfortably on your child's shoulders, allowing them to wear the costume easily.
Your Amazing Costume is Complete!
That’s it! Your striking and low-cost Taxi Car Costume is ready for the competition! This is not just a fun activity for the kids, but also a fantastic way to utilize waste materials creatively.
